What is a Watershed?

Description: Everyone has a watershed address and what we do in our watershed affects its health! In this program students are introduced to the definition of a watershed and associated terms (tributary, confluence, mouth, groundwater). In two or three groups they build a simple model of a watershed. Using spray bottles they simulate precipitation in their watershed which creates a good visual. Students then review maps of the Housatonic watershed and discover their watershed address.
