A Natural Connection to the Azores

Description: This program for grades 5-10 focuses on the historical connection between the New Bedford area and the Azores by investigating the marine animals seen by whaling crews while sailing between these two regions. Students will learn latitude, longitude, charting and how to predict what marine life could be seen in the north Atlantic ocean.

This 90 minute program uses a combination of Power Point, information from primary source material, museum artifacts and hands-on activities.

Fee Information: $7/student
1 adult (including teachers) per 10 students receives free admission, as do all one-on-one aides. Each additional adult is $10/adult.
No down payment is required. Payment is due upon arrival in the form of cash, credit card, debit card, or check.
Public Schools from Boston, New Bedford, Dartmouth, Westport, Acushnet, and Fairhaven receive free admission. Boston Public Schools also receive free transportation, courtesy of the Schrafft Charitable Fund.
