2019 Summer Institute: Investigating Ecosystems Through Fieldwork

Description: Learn and practice fieldwork techniques to study two ecosystems, an urban forest and a meadow. Sample biodiversity, gather abiotic data, examine the interrelationships between organism, and learn about decomposition, soil, and nutrient cycling. Interact with guest speakers as they share expertise in data gathering, fieldwork, botany, and ecosystems.

Additional information (if any): 30 PDP points available for complete attendance. Boston Public School teachers, and teachers in schools with similar demographics, will be eligible for free bus transportation to the Arboretum for a self-guided trip the following school year (2019-2020).

August 12-16. This program runs for 5 days, from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Resource guides and lesson ideas will be incorporated into each day.
