Intertidal Ecology

Description: Educators lead a discussion on an ecologist’s study of the intertidal zone, limiting factors, and ask students to develop a hypothesis about the zone where a particular tidepool animal would live. Students then explore trays of live animals to determine which zone each tray represents. They measure the percent cover and density of each animal in their tray to help them come to a conclusion.
